FAOSTAT

FAOSTAT is the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's public database of country-level agricultural production, trade, and consumption statistics going back decades.

FAOSTAT is maintained by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and compiles country-reported data on agricultural production, trade, land use, and food supply, covering nearly every country and going back decades for many series. It is one of the most widely cited sources for comparing farm output and food commodity trade across the world.

Because it depends on what national governments report, FAOSTAT’s coverage and accuracy vary by country and by how developed that country’s own statistical systems are; the FAO fills some gaps with its own estimates where official figures are missing or judged unreliable. It complements trade-focused databases like Comtrade and PSD, which track cross-border flows and specific crop balances rather than the broader agricultural and land-use statistics FAOSTAT covers.
