Zinkgruvan: a zinc operation in Sweden
Zinkgruvan is a mine producing zinc in Sweden, operated by Boliden. The sources report 78,025 tonnes of zinc, "Production of metal in concentrate" for CY2025; the basis is whole mine, as reported by Boliden. In zinc content, whole-operation output for CY2025 is 78,025 tonnes: about 0.6% of world zinc output in 2025 and about 34% of Sweden's; it is one of 22 operations on this site whose output can be stated in zinc content.
Who owns and operates it?
| Owner | Interest | As of |
|---|---|---|
| Boliden | 100% | 16 April 2025 |
How much does it produce?
| Period | Output | Basis | Where in the source |
|---|---|---|---|
| CY2025 | 78,025 tonnes of zinc, "Production of metal in concentrate" | whole mine, as reported by Boliden | PDF p.40 (printed p.40), table "Full-year data per unit - Mines", Zinkgruvan, row "Production of metal in concentrate - Zinc, tonnes", column 2025 · Boliden AB |
| CY2024 | 82,133 tonnes of zinc, "Production of metal in concentrate" | whole mine, as reported by Boliden | PDF p.40, same row, column 2024 · Boliden AB |
Between CY2024 and CY2025 the reported figure fell by 5.0%, in the same unit and on the same basis.
How the zinc-content figure is worked out. Boliden prints 78,025 tonnes of zinc as metal in concentrate for Zinkgruvan for the full year 2025 in its unit table. This is contained zinc for the whole mine. World mine production of zinc in 2025 was 13,000,000 tonnes (USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026); Sweden produced 230,000 tonnes.
Status: operating, as of 31 December 2025.
- Boliden's table footnote says the Zinkgruvan 2025 and 2024 production data include production before the acquisition on 16 April 2025, so 78,025 tonnes covers the full calendar year 2025.

Method and limits
- Reported, not estimated. Output is the figure the operator or owner published, in the unit it used. This site does not estimate output where none is published.
- Shares. A share divides output in zinc content by the USGS world or country total for 2025. Where the operator's year is a fiscal year or the unit is a concentrate or a carbonate equivalent, the share is approximate or not given.
- Whole operation or owner's share. The basis column says which. A joint venture's output is never counted twice.
- Partial list. Only operations with a published figure are listed, so the rank is among those on this site, not among every zinc mine. Shares of a country's output mix periods and bases, so treat them as indicative.
